New Year at Banner

We all take for granite what we have in life. As I look at the 2009 New Year, I know that we have a great life. Our family is near, close, and we all care deeply for each other. Does not mean that situations are difficult, but that is what makes us unique. Our families are healthy. None of us are "wealthy" when it comes to money, but we have wealth in each other. Not many families have all that we have. For this I am so grateful and blessed. We have safe places to live, we all have jobs, our children are healthy and adjusted, and most of all we have freedom to live as we enjoy. Banner is a place off Highway 9W, that if you blink you'll miss. Now don't get confused, it is 9W, not 9 Highway. It is filled with history & good neighbors that look out for each other. None of us do the traditional visiting, that used to occur, but we all look out for one another. We have a small store, several churches, a cemetary, pet cemetary, easy access to many locations, land around us, wildlife, trees, pets and varmits, you name it, and we probably have it. People go and come each day, watch out for each other, check on each other, and ocassionally visit. We have all a good life....Nope, WE HAVE A GREAT LIFE!!! Happy 2009.

Lights and stuff

If you love seeing Christmas lights and children enjoying the sights and sounds, it is an hours travel, but there is an incredible place at Cotton Plant, Ms. You travel thru Pontotoc, New Albany on Hwy 15. It is about 5 miles out of New Albany on the right side. The family has it as a ministry. There are 300+ inflatable objects, lights, etc... You can drive thru or walk thru. The last night is Christmas night 6-8. They except donations but no pressure. You can take a peak on line at mississippichristmas.com, and see all the pictures of the beautiful area.

New Christmas Tradition

Today has turned into a new Camp tradition. For all the years I have known Ted, we have had all his family gather at his mothers home for the day. She has Alzsheimer's, so the past two years have been very difficult physically and mentally for all. We decided this year, since our boys are grown and will not all be home that day, and looking for something that would decrease stress for us all, it was a good time to break tradition. We started the day as usual. We had lunch on a small scale, with Ted his mother (Muz) and Jason. I got out the good china, and we treated ourselves to lunch, a little more formal. We all enjoyed it and it turned out to be a peaceful meal. She realizes at some moments there is something going on different, but most hours has no clue what is happening around her. She and I made cinnamon rolls for our neighbors. That was something we could do together, and not be a task that was so difficult. We're enjoying a mice lazy afternoon, taking turns napping and enjoying the day. We are blessed to have family and freinds, and that is what it is all about.

Banner Happenings

We now have a store open at Banner. Banner Cafe. It is being operated by the Nix family. They are cooking, selling gas (lowest in the area, today) and have the CCJ each Wed. morning. Each weekend they entertain with local musicians. Stop by and talk a look around.
